They are Laurent Dubois's history of the country's long aftermath, John Garrigus's work on colonial Saint-Domingue, race and citizenship, Philippe Girard's account of Toussaint Louverture and the war of independence fought from 1801 to 1804, and Jeremy Popkin's study of the revolution and the ending of slavery.
